Intermittent sealing can be useful where packs are handled individually, bag sizes vary or a bag is difficult to move through a continuous machine. Product names alone do not define material compatibility. Confirm the heating method, jaw construction, controls and intended duty of the exact sealer offered.

What distinguishes the work each machine must do?

An impulse sealing machine is a format to discuss for applications suited to a timed heat cycle. Heat and cooling time, contact pressure and film structure influence the seal. Ask for a trial rather than assuming that a machine will seal any pouch described as plastic.

When evaluating the DH sealing machine, obtain the model-specific explanation of its heating arrangement and supported materials. Trade names are not substitutes for an application specification. The same approach applies to a mobile sealer: confirm what moves, how the bag is supported and how the operator positions the sealing jaws.

Which dimensions should be measured?

Record the open bag width, material layers, folds or gussets crossing the seal, and the required finished seal position. The usable jaw length must cover the intended seal, including any practical placement allowance confirmed by the supplier. A gusset can create a thicker region than the middle of the bag, so test both areas.

For large filled bags, review the lifting and supporting method. The operator should not have to hold a heavy bag in an awkward position throughout the sealing cycle. Include work height, cable routing and an uncluttered space for completed packs in the station design.

What should the acceptance trial include?

  • Actual material and the thickest folded regions of the bag.
  • Repeat cycles at the planned working pace.
  • Start-up, pauses and restart conditions.
  • Approved seal-strength or leak checks appropriate to the product.
  • Safe loading, release and bag support demonstrated to operators.

How do you avoid under-sizing the equipment?

Count acceptable bags per shift with breaks, product changes and cooling time included. A longer sealing jaw is not necessarily a higher-duty machine. Send the full application to machine consultation and ask manufacturing to confirm the proposed configuration and consumable replacements before final approval.
