A pallet wrapper should be selected around the complete unit load, including the pallet, stacked goods and any overhang. The correct machine configuration depends on how the load enters the workstation and how it responds to wrapping forces. Film selection is part of that decision.
Which load details should be measured?
Provide pallet length and width, maximum overall height and the weight of the complete load. Photograph the least stable stack and identify sharp corners, light cartons or uneven surfaces. Ask the supplier to confirm the capacity and usable dimensions of the proposed pallet stretch wrapping machine.
Describe the loading method and available handling equipment. Confirm approach space, ramp or floor arrangement where applicable, and access for film replacement. The installation footprint must include the movement needed to place and remove the pallet safely.
How should film be specified?
Supply the film grade, roll dimensions and supplier guidance. Discuss the film delivery arrangement fitted to the quoted machine rather than assuming that all wrappers use the same tension or pre-stretch method. A film-saving claim should be checked against the same accepted load and handling criteria.
Measure film used per accepted pallet during a representative trial. Compare load condition after wrapping and after the agreed handling sequence. Lower material consumption is useful only if the package continues to meet the required containment standard.
What should a quotation include?
- Confirmed load dimensions, weight and machine configuration.
- Film handling arrangement and approved roll specification.
- Loading accessories, site utilities and operator access.
- Trial criteria, training and installation responsibilities.
