A labeling line needs stable bottle presentation through starts, stops and changes in demand. Problems that look like labeler faults can begin at the upstream transfer or accumulation area. Observe the bottle before label application as well as the finished label.
What should be reviewed at the infeed?
Record bottle spacing, orientation and stability as containers approach the automatic bottle labeler. Note whether defects appear only when supply becomes irregular or after a downstream stop. Compare the actual conveyor arrangement with the accepted layout.
Where an automatic turntable machine feeds or collects bottles, confirm its intended role and operating arrangement with the supplier. Ask how bottles transfer at the guide and conveyor interface and what happens when the next stage stops. Do not assume that an accumulation device also performs every spacing or sorting task.
How should a bottle and label changeover be recorded?
Identify the new bottle and label codes, approved recipe and permitted guide adjustments. Use the supplier's safe changeover sequence for label replacement and any tooling work. Keep hands away from moving transfers and applicator mechanisms while the equipment operates.
Inspect the first labelled bottles for height, alignment, wrinkles and adhesion using the agreed method. Confirm that printed information remains visible and correctly positioned. Time the change from the last accepted old-format bottle to the first accepted new-format bottle, including rejected trial labels.
Which issues should be logged separately?
- Bottles tipping, scuffing or arriving at uneven spacing.
- Labels skewed at application versus lifting afterward.
- Defects linked to startup, refill or a particular material batch.
- Extra operator intervention needed to keep production moving.
When should the line be reviewed?
Ask installation support or after-sales support to review recurring interface problems. The label and container selection guide helps assess changed components. Keep approved settings and reference samples with the production record so later troubleshooting starts from a known setup.
